Following on from my previous post, in which I wondered whether and / or when to get a foldable phone.
The Samsung Galaxy Fold 5 was released a few weeks ago. From what I can see, reviews have been generally positive. (For example, I have yet to come across one bad YouTube review.)
I visited the Galaxy Experience Space in New York a few days ago. While there, I spent some time trying out the new Galaxy Fold 5.
The Galaxy Fold 5 is such a beautiful phone, and a good improvement on the Galaxy Fold 4. One good thing to note here is that, unlike its predecessor, this new one does actually fold flat. (The Galaxy Fold 4 has a weird alignment issue, which means that there is a gap between both parts of the phone when folded. This allows dust to enter and settle around the hinge of the phone.)
Also, on the Galaxy Fold 5, the crease in the middle is much less visible, although you can’t really miss it.
Despite these solid improvements, I held off on getting one. I think I’ll wait until the crease disappears completely, or is at least barely visible. Perhaps that will happen with the Galaxy Fold 7 or 8.
While at the Galaxy Experience Space, I also got to try out the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra. Now that is a totally amazing tablet! The AMOLED display gives it the best screen I’ve seen on any tablet to date, including the iPad Pro. Definitely worth buying.
