(1) Ulysses – Daily journaling.
(2) RoamResearch – Taking notes on things I’m reading, and outlining ideas. I’m a big fan of its bi-directional linking tools.
(3) OmniOutliner – Brainstorming and outlining ideas for projects or articles. It’s very handy on the iPhone, in a way that Roam Research is not.
(4) Notion – Journaling about my projects, etc. Notion can be all things to all men. Note-taking is just one of the numerous things you can do in this app.
(5) Scrivener – Long-form writing. Highly recommended for dense articles requiring a lot of research. It has great functionality for organising material.
(6) Drafts – Blog posts. I also compose drafts here, while deciding what to do with them, i.e. where to publish them.
(7) Apple Notes – Brainstorming, making lists, capturing interesting stuff I come across e.g. quotes, lyrics, proverbs.
(8) GoodNotes 5 – Taking notes (with the Apple Pencil) while reading.
